Our annual Game of Real Life (“Game”) is our largest event, involving months of preparation. The following opportunities are specifically for the Summer 2012 Game; however, we’re always looking for year-round help in a variety of areas, and have posted additional volunteer requests at VolunteerMatch.org and Truist.com.


Instructors

Involvement: Instructors with team leaders to help 10th-graders create individual strategies for the Game simulation held in July 2012.
Time Commitment: June and July, 2012
Requirements: All instructors must be college graduates

Team Leaders

Involvement: Team leaders each coach five high school students for Game play and work under the supervision of Instructors. Coaching includes discussion leading, homework review, and one-on-one talks.

Game Planners

Involvement: Game Planners train adult volunteers from our sponsoring companies (KPMG, DeMontrond, IBC Bank, AGI, FPA Associate), and assist S4L’s Regional Directors during Game day to keep things running smoothly.

Career Mentors

Involvement: Career Mentors take lunch with our students (~11:30AM to 1:00PM) to discuss their career goals. Meetings take place at various high schools in the Houston area.

Interviewers

Involvement: Interviewers conduct speed job interviews and offer students positions in the Game.
Time Commitment: July 15th from 8:00AM to 12:00PM

Trainers

Involvement: After Game students are offered jobs during the interview phase, Trainers conduct job training/orientation.
Time Commitment: July 15th from 12:30PM to 3:30PM

Managers and Executives

Involvement: Managers and Executives supervise students and other volunteers on Game day and join sponsors and students at the Celebration Sponsor Dinner after the Game wraps up.
Time Commitment: July 16th from 7:30AM to 9:00PM
